I can still remember the smell. If there is a smell that sticks in the nostrils like no other, it is that of a cat urinating on the bed. It is a kind of acrid, acrid stench that lingers long after the cat has made its mark.

It took several quilts and even a mattress before I discovered a 2-step process to convince my cat to go back to her litter box.

The first thing to do to prevent cats from urinating on the bed is to remove the odor.

DO NOT use a normal household cleaning solution. This will only make things worse. Cat urine is quite a powerful material and you need an equally powerful cleaner to completely eradicate the odor. Remember, even if you can’t smell it, your cat may still be able to.

Go out and buy a bottle of Nature’s Miracle. This is worth its weight in gold. You should soak the area with this material (don’t worry, it comes in large bottles) and let it dry.

The tricky part is keeping the cat out of bed while the solution works, it’s magic.

The second step is to take out some aluminum foil.

Your cat won’t want to step on the aluminum foil, so he will stay away from the bed. Be sure to drill lots of holes for Nature’s Miracle to dry. Don’t worry that it will smell worse after the first application, as it is only the enzymes that break down the compounds responsible for the odor.

If you want your cat to stop urinating on the bed once and for all, you should try this method first. However, it is worth mentioning that there may be other causes that cause your cat to leave its litter box in the first place.
