There is nothing difficult in learning carpentry, in most cases it just takes common sense to conquer carpentry. I’m going to give you some key points about what it takes to learn carpentry easily and efficiently.

One of the first things I was taught in carpentry is how to read a tape measure. Reading a tape measure is like the basics of carpentry. If you don’t know how to read it, you may want to start learning because a tape measure is the most common tool a carpenter uses.

Another fundamental in carpentry is the use of basic carpentry tools. Familiarize yourself with the hammer, knife, scissors, and speed square. These tools are the most commonly used tools in carpentry. Some commonly used power tools are the hacksaw, screw gun, drill, and a circular saw. If you learn to use these tools fluently, you are on your way to becoming a master carpenter.

I graduated from two woodworking schools, one is the UBC Woodworking School in Kenilworth, NJ. The other school I graduated from is the hard hitting school. And even though I graduated, I am still learning. The key is to have an open mind and you will become a better carpenter.

Remember you are in the learning stages of carpentry, remember this old saying. The race is not hitting the fast or the strong, but the one who endured to the end. In other words, keep hauling trucks and you will reach your goal.
