Video game writing simply means the ability to create a story for a video game. It is similar to writing novels and screenplays, but it does not have a formal format. The usual video game writing method is first carried out as a novel and / or script and then transferred to a storyboard for better clarification and approval.

Concept to end
Video game writing begins like any other form of writing; put words on paper. From there, the team that makes up the game constantly reviews the storyboard that was originally agreed upon to carry out the sequencing of the animation and the creation of the story.

Design
As mentioned above, video game writing is very close to screenplay and novel writing. However, the storyboard is what makes game writing special and unique. The entire script or novel is approved before the storyboard is made, because it takes much longer to develop a storyboard. In the storyboard, animation is almost never a top-notch drawing.

In fact, many storyboards (even on a professional level) are made out of stick figures and are simply built to “get the message across.” There are two different storyboards; cinematics and gameplay. Cinematic follows the same writing process that animated movies follow. Game storyboards are chronological storyboards designed to take the main character from the beginning of the game to the end of the game.

Rolls, stumps and stops
Grooves, stumps, and stops are sections of a storyboard where the character diverges from the main story. A routine is where the character stops due to a current situation and must get out of a situation before they can return to the main story. A stump is a puzzle that must be completed in order for a game to get back on track. They are usually used to unlock sections, items, weapons, or abilities that will allow the character to continue progressing through a game. A stop is typically used in RPGs and is where the main character must complete secondary objectives or reach a certain point in order to advance through the main story. Most games will only use two of these three methods, but they are all intended to increase the duration of the game and serve no other purpose.

Review at every stage
Correction, like novels and screenplays, is of great importance, but not for the same reasons. The history test of a game has two objectives; subtitling and voice acting. Almost all games have the option of subtitles, which allow the lines used in the storyboard to be placed directly in cinematic or game scenes. Voice actors rely on the correct spelling and grammar in video game writing to generate the correct voice, emotion, and setting for the lines.
