With spring almost on the horizon, there’s no better time than the present to take action against clutter. It doesn’t have to be a major operation—sorting just one drawer can restore a sense of order—but once you start, you’ll want to keep going. So how do you order and where to start? Organization is key. Keep things that belong together and use baskets or bins for neat storage.

1. Entrance and vestibule

Problem: Shoes, coats, bags and umbrellas can make the entrance to your house messy and messy.

Solution: Install a wall unit to free up floor space, put up coat racks, and add a shoe rack and boxes. Umbrella stands also add a fabulous decorative touch, as well as being practical.

2. Bathroom

Problem: General disorder in one of the most used rooms in the house.

Solution: Attractively store your goods and hide unsightly bath toys, spare toilet paper rolls and cleaning fluids in a four-drawer unit. Keep spare towels high on a shelf so they don’t get mixed up with towels you’re using. Fold clean towels in half and roll them up, then stack them with the coils exposed for a hotel chic at home.

3.Kitchen

Problem: Family kitchens become the dumping ground for mail, school bag contents and shopping bags, making keeping work surfaces clear is a challenge.

Solution: Try to sort items as they come in and stock, trash, or archive. Hang a rail with butcher hooks on a wall to keep utensils off surfaces. Kitchens often don’t have room for all the council recycling bins, so try to use plastic bins in the cupboard for recyclables, which are emptied when full.

4. Children’s bedrooms

Problem: Children’s toys take up valuable floor space and the room can become a mess if toys are not stored properly.

Solution: If your children have a lot of stuffed toys that aren’t used regularly, consider placing them high up to gain more floor space; a toy net, such as a pop-up, or shelves are good solutions. You may also want to consider a seat storage box, which is perfect for large toys and doubles as a nightstand or stool.

5. Service area

Problem: Too many dirty clothes.

Solution: Laundry hampers are essential, but they take up space when not in use. Try collapsible laundry bags, which are perfect as spares for busy laundry days and can slide out the side of the machine when not in use. Keep a small laundry basket both downstairs and upstairs. It can help organize your laundry.
