Reuben Droughns, running back for the Cleveland Browns, has had his ups and downs; unfortunately, his downs have far outweighed his ups of late. On November 1, he was charged with DUI and traveling at speeds of 50 mph in a 35 mph zone. In fact, Droughns was acquitted of the charges, but finds himself back on the bench. This time he has moved his field to domestic violence.

Droughn’s last escapade was extended, as he was no longer at the scene, when the bailiffs arrived. However, Droughns turned himself in to authorities Wednesday night and spent a night in jail awaiting a court hearing the following Thursday morning. There has been no press release on the true nature of the charge nor has there been a statement on the possible outcome.

It is known that he was charged with third degree assault and harassment, which is only a misdemeanor. Delivery can be made after there was open communication between the Sheriff’s Department and Agent Droughns. The entire matter was handled in a professional and calm manner.

Droughns was traded in 2005 from the Denver Broncos to the Browns. He recently signed a three-year extension on his contract. Last season he had two touchdowns and rushed for 1,232 yards on 309 carries. The Browns have not commented on the case, and this is not expected to impede his season with the Browns.
