Astrology has always had a bad reputation among many scientists. This year alone, astrology has been refocused as a pseudoscience. Many people believe that it is a crackpot belief and this is usually by people who have little knowledge or understanding of it. They are also people who are not open or willing to believe something with little scientific evidence. They can publish their daily stars in the newspaper and laugh and criticize them. The zodiac signs you read are just a very basic guide, an astrologer needs to know the time, date and place of birth to give a proper natal interpretation of a horoscope which provides a lot of information.

I doubt that astrology will ever be classified as a true science, any more than true existence can be truly proven. However, science has shown that the moon has an effect on the tides and human behavior. Arnold Lieber wrote a book in 1978 called The Lunar Effect: Biological Tides and Human Emotions. He argued that the moon influences everyday behavior. Those in the medical profession also agree that hospitals and police know that more violence is committed on a Full Moon, and increase their workforce to accommodate this. There are many other cases that seem to be linked to the planets. When Mercury is retrograde (moving around a particular part of the zodiac) it is said to affect everything to do with communication and travel. The last severe weather belt to hit the UK in late 2010 occurred at a time when the mercury was retrograde; this was also a time when many internet service providers and other communication devices had problems. Coincidence?

Recently, Percy Seymour, who is a scientist, wrote a book called ‘The Scientific Proof of Astrology’. The argument he presented was that the movement of the Sun, Moon and various planets from Jupiter to Mars interfere with the Earth’s magnetic field. In doing so, the unborn children of pregnant mothers around the world are exposed to different magnetic fields when they are born.

There was a time when astronomy and astrology went hand in hand, until science started to be more fact based. Today quantum physics and science are connecting with astrological thinking and could merge again in the future.

All the scientific theories that have been created by humans to explain the universe around us are basically the same. Astrology, astronomy, philosophy, quantum physics, and religion are basically the same thing. Scientists and skeptics need real physical evidence. I often tell people that when you walk into a room where two people have argued, how can you ‘feel’ or ‘perceive’ an atmosphere? You don’t know that they have had a fight, but you can feel that the atmosphere is thick or just different. Explain it, how do you know? What do you feel? Do you need scientific proof to prove that what you feel is real or do you trust your instincts?

Every living organism in this world is part of this solar system and universe. Brian Cox is explaining it very well with his latest series ‘Wonders of the Universe’. If the world and planets like the moon affect the tides of our seas, these huge planets affect all other living and non-living things on our planet. Everything we do has a cause and an effect. What happens in our daily lives is not just random, how can it be? Our thoughts, attitudes, words, and actions cause and significantly influence our personal life experiences. I wouldn’t be writing this article if it weren’t for cause and effect. I’m a scientist and I don’t need hard evidence to believe something that a lot of people would laugh at. I use my own experience, do my own research, and use my gut feeling to come to my conclusion. What is your job? Hear someone else’s?
