The RipStik is a popular wheeled board created by the “Razor” company (known for its successful Razor Scooter). Two separate small platforms are linked by a bar that rotates using a strong spring. Each platform or “platform” houses a spinning wheel identical to a roller skate wheel.

The construction of the board allows a person to propel himself by rotating the body and legs to move the two decks and the wheels. The feeling of riding a board with wheels has been attributed to being like riding a snowboard or surfboard.

Repairing a standard RipStik wheel is a simple process not unlike replacing a skateboard wheel or skate.

To get started you will need a few things. You’ll need a pair of needle drivers (or similar) that will act as a lever to remove the bearing from the wheel, a new 76mm roller blade wheel (which are the same as RipStik wheels), or two, if you’re going to be replacement of the front and rear wheel. You’ll also need two alan wrenches (also know you have alan wrenches) that are 3/15 in size.

First, you will need to remove the RipStik truck wheel. Place one alan key on the right side of the wheel, inside the stud, the other on the left side of the stud. Now, turn an alan key counter-clockwise to unscrew the bolt while holding the other side to prevent it from twisting. Continue turning the alan key until you have completely unscrewed the bolt.

Once the wheels are out, you will take the needle drives and pull the bearing out of the inside of the wheel. Once the two bearings are out, you will be able to place the bearings inside the new RipStik wheel. Place the bearings in the middle of the wheel (taking care that it doesn’t fall out while inside the wheel) and press the bearing.

Once you have both bearings on the new wheel, take your wheel and place it on the truck. Now put your bolt through the truck, wheel, and bearing. Tighten the bolts until they are very firm to make sure they are secure. Be careful not to overtighten the bolt, as this could cause your bearings to run at 16. Once you’ve fitted your RipStik wheels, you’re good to go and have a new RipStik wheel to race with.
