Are Porsche Car Seats Customizable?

Inspired by this, Porsche has started offering a customized racing-style bucket seat for the 911 and 718 models with its 3D printed bodyform full bucket seat. The seat features a sandwich construction that has a base support made from expanded polypropylene and a breathable comfort layer fabricated using 3D printing and a mixture of polyurethane-based materials with a lattice design. The central seat cushion and backrest surfaces are then partially 3D-printed, which allows for a fine-tuned firmness that can be adjusted to individual drivers.

The new seat also weighs less than a conventional car seat and has a unique appearance. The exterior skin is made from Racetex, a waterproof but breathable material with a perforation pattern that allows for passive climate control. This skin is also partly 3D-printed and has a window that provides a view of the seat’s inner structure. This exposes the breathable, attractively colored lattice design and gives the seat its distinctive high-performance appearance.

Porsche has already started to offer the customizable seats as a prototype that can be mounted in its client race cars along with a six-point seat belt. After incorporating feedback from its clients, Porsche intends to launch the street-legal version of the seat via its Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur division in mid-2021. It will be available in soft, medium and hard firmness grades, as well as a variety of colors.

As you can see, the options are endless for modifying your Porsche to be your perfect car.
