At some point in life, most of us will know what it’s like to long for someone else only so that they don’t seemingly realize that we exist. Unrequited love is painful, difficult, and an unfortunate side effect of the human condition; and few of us truly forget the people we have truly loved or wanted. Therefore, it is not surprising that the mind, confused by unrequited love and burning with desire, begins to spin and search for less conventional ways to attract an individual’s attention.
Free will
Most Wiccans practice some type of spell or spellcasting, but many avoid the idea of love spells. Some believe that they are dark or black magic, as such spells attempt to interfere with the natural shape of things and damage the free will of the recipient. Others believe that any form of magic is interfering with nature and therefore everything is fine or not fine, and they accept love spells in principle and perhaps in practice.
So while love spells definitely exist, the jury is out on whether they really work. The tricky issue, you see, is free will.
Free will is an essential facet of the human emotional range; It is what gives us the ability to think, deduce, decide, experience emotions. If someone else interferes with that free will by using a love spell, you are putting nature at odds.
A person who has been receiving a love spell may feel love, but that does not mean that he agrees with it. What you are really experiencing is a weak, magically induced sense of love; the butterflies in the stomach, the intoxicating desire to be with someone. But those emotions and feelings are easily overridden and dismissed as false if the person has no real inclination towards you, and you’ll be back where you started.
Lust and love
The main problem with love spells is free will, which means that a spell can only attract attraction and desire, but not real love. Love is a mystery, not understood even by science, and there is no way of bewitching that influences it.
But the desire … now, the desire can be influenced. It is a simple biological process, and if a love spell is done well, desire and attraction can increase in the subject. Done correctly, this wish will turn to you and you will suddenly become the focal point of attention.
However, it is not love. It is lust; fiery, exciting and often fleeting lust. Genuine love cannot be manufactured or bewitched.
Draw them towards you
However, what a love spell can do is draw someone’s attention to you. You can create those feelings of lust, and then once you are in a person’s life and are considered a romantic partner, love can start to develop naturally. Whether or not you are comfortable with the initial enchantment is a decision of your own conscience, but some find that a love spell makes someone interested in them long enough for genuine love to develop, leaving aside the need for magic and allowing a relationship to flourish. .
