A cat is a small feline mammal that has been domesticated for several years. The word cat generally means a domestic or domestic cat, although people used to refer to this as a member of a feline family. For example, people often refer to tigers, lions, and jaguars as big cats.

Domestic cats came from inherited wild species such as Felis silvestris, the African and European wild cat. In recent times, people consider a domestic cat as a separate species and call it Felis Catus.

When looking at the appearance of domestic cats, they are the same as their wild relatives. Even many behaviors, such as hunting and other routine activities, remain the same as in their inherited form. The first domestication of cats took place in Egypt.

In 4000 a. C., the ancient Egyptians domesticated cats to protect their grain stores from rats and mice. They regarded cats as the avatars of the goddess Bast. If anyone killed cats, the death penalty would be imposed. Sometimes when domestic cats died, individuals would arrange mummification as if they were humans.

However, in the year 500 a. C., the Greeks began to domesticate cats and spread this practice throughout the world. Recently, the domestication of cats is very popular all over the world, mainly by settlers from Europe.

Domesticated cat varieties:

There are several names for domesticated cats, each with unique characteristics and heritage. However, due to some common crosses in colonized regions, several cats are simply recognized as members of the family of homogeneous varieties of domestic shorthair and domestic longhair, depending on their coat types.

Tortoiseshell (UK) or Calico (US) cats have various colors. Two-color cats are partially white. A tabby cat has stripes around its fur. A male house cat is a cat and, similarly, a house cat is a queen.

A young domestic cat is a kitten. A domestic cat whose heritage is officially registered is a pedigree cat or a purebred cat or a show cat. The breeders and owners of these domestic cats compete with each other to see who reproduces well.

Less than 1% of all domestic cats are purebred cats and the remaining 99% have mixed ancestry, known as moggies or, more often, domestic shorthairs and domestic longhairs.

Common domesticated cats:

Short-haired house cats and long-haired house cats are the two main types of house cats, which are popular all over the world in recent years.

Short-haired domestic cats do not represent a recognized variety of cats or have a pedigree, but are popular for their wide range of colors around their body. It can be any color or a mixture of several colors.

Long-haired domestic cats have long or moderate hair. Its standard colors include tortoise and tabby and / or are bi-colored. These cats make excellent family pets, especially for people who are willing to give their hair the extra care it requires.

However, with a little research work, people can be sure to determine the right type of house cat for their own needs.
